FAMOUSLY ANONYMOUS

A time-traveling culinary mystery through the city of Lyon, France’s gastronomic where ambition, betrayal, and history collide.

When the New York Times overlooks the contributions of French chef Eugénie Brazier for the second time, social media erupts, fueled by scathing posts from the elusive food critic, Anonymous Eater. To calm the backlash, New York Times food writer Ali Boudreaux is assigned a short profile of Brazier. But after stumbling across an unfinished biography in a small New York City bookstore, Ali’s simple assignment turns into something far more surreal.

Armed with an unfinished biography and a growing obsession with Madame Brazier’s story, Ali embarks on a journey to uncover the past. On her flight to France, she meets Max, a charming but enigmatic investment banker who seems to know more than he lets on. As Ali delves into Brazier’s legacy, the past begins to blur with the present, and Lyon of the 1920s and ’30s comes to life. With each discovery, new questions arise: Who was the anonymous Michelin inspector who dined at Brazier’s restaurants in 1933? And could Max be the elusive, sharp-tongued food critic known only as Anonymous Eater?

Finally, secrets unravel and Ali and Max face a choice—one that could launch a career, destroy another, and restore Eugénie Brazier’s rightful place among the world’s greatest chefs.
